I look at the last post I put here and I realise that it looks a little flippant.  This place has been good to me, so I feel like I owe this blog at least one more post.

Two months ago I received a diagnosis for Attention Deficit Disorder, something that took quite a long time reach.  Spending time and money investigating my own mental health is been one of the most difficult things to do, but looking at it from this end I wish I’d done it much earlier.  Medication has helped a lot, but it’s life changes that began even before the course that is really bearing fruit.  I realise that it’s only been a couple of months - a diagnosis, some pills and a new outlook does not mean everything is now a permanent and static improvement.  In a way though, knowing where I am now means knowing that I can find my way back here - and I hope to keep pushing that boundary higher.

I would never had begun any of this if I hadn’t seen some wonderful people here using their own personal space as an outlet to deal with their own issues.  I’m grateful for that.

I’m still trying to decide what exactly to do with this space.  I occasionally get the urge to write still, but it becomes a passing fancy when I’m finding a lot of other forms of expression.  Leaving this here as a bit of a dear diary high/low light of my life thing isn’t really that useful anymore either.

If you’re interested in catching up with me and you’re a Melbourne local, then just add me on facebook as I think I may trim this blog down to a sort of archive soon.  Particularly if you share some common interests:

  • Photography/Light painting
  • Bike Riding
  • Live bands & open mic nights
  • Psytrance, doofs and lifestyle festivals
  • Craft Beer/wine/bars
  • Coffee/Cafes
  • Massage therapy

Hi Tumblr,

Life is pretty good, and not much idle time to post about stuff.  Annual leave is somehow more stressful than work - but it’s worth it.

Okay, back to your scheduled TV gif reblogs and context vague quote spam.

Dr. Seuss’ Secret Art Works

For over 60 years, (Theodor Seuss Geisel) Dr. Seuss’s illustrations brought a visual realization to his fantastic and imaginary worlds. However, his artistic talent went far beyond the printed page, as in his Secret Art works – the paintings and sculptures he did at night for himself that he rarely exhibited during his lifetime. Seuss always dreamed of sharing these works with his fans and had entrusted his wife, Audrey, to carry out his wishes once he was gone. Audrey, too, believed the work deserved further recognition and that Ted himself would one day be evaluated not only as an author, but also as an artist in his own right. Click on each picture to see its title and click here to see his collections and read his full biography.

I lent my street camera to a friend who spent a couple of weeks in Hong Kong and some of the shots he took blew me away.

I love this one in particular from Ocean Park.

I just put my name down for Tough Mudder. God help me.

"Even when Modest Mouse is meditating on the mundane, they explore it in “big” terms, i.e. from an abstract, what-does-it-all-mean perspective… There are certain lyrical threads and reoccurring thematic material in MM songs that are impossible to deny: isolation, religious faith, pop psychology, drugs, the commodification of—and subsequent loss of identity in—the Pacific Northwest, the trappings of rural living, open roads, philosophical terror, and a general, bleeding sentiment that screams “I’m pretty sure I’m fucked, but let’s see what tomorrow holds.” It’s a testament to the band that they can tread material that would politely be described as depressing and refuse to only see a downside. MM embraces the darkness to illustrate that it’s not insurmountable and that the struggle itself is where inner peace lies. ‘The universe works on a math equation that never even ever really even ends in the end.’"

Rainbow Serpent 2013 was probably the best consecutive four days of my life, and yet I don’t really have any proper photos or stories to share on this blog.

Some are for reasons that you might guess, but most aren’t.  I’ll just say that loved and felt it tenfold back - and I learnt - oh did I learn.

Paint with Lights in Analogue

Love for natural light is something we can’t deny, but sometimes, we would also love to play with artificial light while doing some neat and skillful analogue photography!
