Floaty and pretty.
I just had a very average coffee, bought a laptop online, and tonight I’m going to Crown to see the Muppets again.
It has been a good day.

food-ing around: Dench Bakers : 109 Scotchmer... →
Great review of Dench Bakers. I need an excuse to go to North Fitzroy to go back there for a late morning duck sandwich, they are to die for.
sparrowfoot-eats:
Here on a really windy day, we ventured out to Fitzroy Nth for a brunch date with some friends, who are all heading overseas for holidays/work (dammit I really need a holiday!!). So we ended up at Dench Bakers.
We had been here...
NEIL YOUNG: "Piracy is the new radio."
At least he understands that much. The rest of the interview is very ‘Internets are a series of tubes.’ It hurt to watch.
robindavey:
Neil Young speaks about music at Dive Into Music conference. “I look at radio as gone … Piracy is the new radio, that’s how music gets around.”…“My goal is to try to rescue the art form that I’ve been practicing for the past 50 years.”
Watch the...

There was a lot of crazy and fun music that I danced to at Rainbow, but my favourite was a guys set at the Chill Stage at about 8am on Saturday propped up on a bale of hay with a coffee in hand.
You can download a free EP over at Bandcamp.

Brunswick Street Festival
A street party with over half a dozen stages of music and shenanigans followed by nearly two weeks of folk, roots and world music just down the road from my house.
I can’t wait.

Rainbow Serpent Festival 2012
So after roughly 16 hours sleep and a day of doing very little I’ve recovered from the Rainbow Serpent and music and lifestyle festival (bush doof) of 15,000 people. It’s unlike anything I’ve ever done and was exactly the disconnect I needed away from everything.
It was very fortunate for us that a friend had met a very organised and experienced group when he went to Strawberry...

Why MegaUpload was really shut down →
I’ve seen this article show up a couple of times on my twitter feed and one big thing bothers me.
I present to you… MegaBox. MegaBox was going to be an alternative music store that was entirely cloud-based and offered artists a better money-making opportunity than they would get with any record label. “UMG knows that we are going to compete with them via our own music venture...

Brendon’s dad is getting married on Aus Day so I miss out on the hottest 100 T_T
That’s not cool.
Ah well, I can’t say I’m super enthused about the music part. I just scanned the list and there are no specific songs I know by name so I’ll just pretend to be above radio music, drink a lot...

Totally sitting here eating a bowl of melted chocolate to celebrate no more work for a couple of weeks.
Bring on the annual Australia Day Triple J booze up and Rainbow Serpent.

The Modest Mouse Game
Instructions:
Acquire all of the MM albums/EPs/Demos
Acquire a tall bottle of rum
Take a shot every time the word “shit” is mentioned (and two shots if the song title contains the word “shit”)
See who can make it past “The Lonesome Crowded West”
I love this so much. It could also work for song titles which contain...
matthieuanthony asked: Hello fellow Melbournian, fashion advice? Finding your style comes down to body type, income, lifestyle and taste (in fashion). By identifying these factors you can greatly narrow down your ideal wardrobe pieces. Looking online at fashion items and noting down things which you like, such as colours, specific forms and patterns ECT. The best place to shop when exploring styles is thrift stores and...

Mens fashion forums?
Occasionally I get annoyed with something about my appearance and I look to the Internet for fashion advice. Unfortunately the Internet is not actually that great at doing this. I know there are some blogs out there with some great mens fashion and advice, but it could be much better.
The problem I find is that there is a serious lack of collaboration online, particularly for people like me who...

Sam Amidon @ the Northcote Social Club
Sam Amidon is very good at strums and twangs and things. He’s also good at writing and told us tonight that he is seven sentences into an epic about Johnny Depp seeking to hire the league of underground writers in Connecticut. This league may just consist of one old lady in a tree who wrote most of Leonard Cohen’s songs. I got a bit confused beyond this point.
Anyway, look forward...

Two pair of jeans from these guys cut to my specs immediately for $40 each. They’re also happy for me to bring in some old stuff to cut up into shorts for free.

Tim Freedman @ the Wheelers Hill Hotel
A few days ago a friend of mine out of the blue asked me if I wanted to come out in the middle of nowhere to watch Tim Freedman of The Whitlams to see his solo act. I’d seen it advertised and hadn’t thought much of it, but I’d been meaning to catch up with said friend so I thought ‘sure, why not.’
It’s always the ones that you expect nothing from that end up...

What would you do?
I have taken to tumblr a lot more now after a very slow process of adapting to it's quirks and I find myself trawling through blogs of cool people I meet through hash tags. There is a genuine feeling of sharing here, whether it be simply media sharing or sharing a sort of public identity. Because we're all strangers there is a civility associated with the way everybody acts around one another and because it's a clumsy tool for active discussion, the trolls tend to stay away.
This feeling of freedom allows people to relax their barriers and often express very personal thoughts. Usually this is a nice thing, and it will allow one another to share in each others feelings, if indirectly. This is the issue I'm having though:
WHAT do you do if see a complete strangers blog, as a complete stranger to them, and see that there are some awful happening with them? WHAT do you do if there is no indication at all in their private thoughts, or photos, or interactions that they don't seem to doing anything other than denying it?
I admit I'm uncomfortable with Tumblrs demographic at times. I'm a guy in my late 20's and the biggest demographic here seems to be girls in their late teens. Even typical exchanges I feel like I need to analyse my own words as to not give the impression that I'm some weird sexual predator. In the above case I feel again even more powerless.
I'm not going to share the particulars for the inspiration for this post, so don't bother asking. I do want to know though...have you seen this and what action did you choose to take?
